The Research Specialist I (RSI) participates in the development and carrying out of research studies, in support of one or more principal investigators and may be assigned to a single laboratory, a research core service group, or a combination. The Research Specialist I utilizes all skills necessary to the specific research needs of the principal investigator which may be inclusive of: Psychiatric, patient-oriented skills; computing and programming skills; technical skills relating to the techniques and tools being applied in the research arena; data analysis skills. The RSI also supports the daily and weekly regular process and procedures of the laboratory - such as data integrity, backup, quality control. Operating with a high degree of independence, under supervision of principal investigator the RSI operates in problem-solving mode, working with a high degree of non-routine, unique situations, requiring ability to analyze options and determine course of action while working with scientists, technicians, assessment team, all members of research teams, IT group, research subjects, etc.
