The Marin Lab in the Department of Cancer Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, investigates how chromatin architecture and dynamics regulate genome and epigenome stability, how these relationships change in cancer, and how they may be used to develop therapies. The lab combines molecular biology, optogenetics, CRISPR-based approaches, next-generation sequencing, flow cytometry, and genetic approaches in mammalian cell culture models. Under the supervision of Dr. Alberto Marin, the Research Specialist A will receive hands-on training and apply these techniques to investigate genome-maintenance mechanisms relevant to cancer. The position contributes to experimental design, execution, data analysis, and interpretation while developing technical and critical-thinking skills for a future in biomedical research. A minimum two-year commitment is strongly preferred. As a member of a newly established laboratory, the Research Specialist A will help set up and maintain laboratory operations, including ordering supplies, managing inventories, organizing shared resources, and assisting with equipment maintenance and general laboratory organization. The position also requires careful maintenance of experimental records and research data, and contributing to a collaborative and productive research environment. The position is contingent upon continued funding.
