About The Position

A full-time position is available working with Alice Chen-Plotkin in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. Our research programs study neurodegenerative diseases with a particular focus on Parkinson's disease. Projects range from clinical research into genetic risk factors for disease outcomes to studying the basic mechanisms of the neurodegenerative disease process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Degree focus in neuroscience, biology, or data analysis-heavy field preferred.
  • Experience in research setting preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior lab research experience is strongly preferred.
  • Multiple years of experience with biomedical research
  • Experience working in neurodegenerative disease research, neuroscience research, or genetics research
  • Experience working with animal models of disease

Responsibilities

  • Routine molecular biology (PCR, DNA sequencing, genotyping, cloning) and routine biochemistry (immunoblotting) methods.
  • Assisting with immunohistochemistry (mouse and human brain tissue).
  • Assisting with animal husbandry (mouse models of neurodegeneration).
  • Attending weekly lab meetings.
  • Participating in the educational activities (e.g. journal club) of the lab.
