About The Position

This position assists and supports scientific investigation as directed in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology. The technician will independently conduct assigned experiments, performing a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures. This includes PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis. The role also involves sorting and processing tissues, testing and evaluating current procedures, and performing routine procedures on lab animals. Responsibilities include recording, consolidating, and assisting with the analysis of research results, and evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures. The technician will summarize data for grant proposals and manuscripts, prepare research progress reports, and assist the principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts. Additionally, the role involves conducting library research on requested topics, maintaining accurate records of laboratory activities, and assisting with training junior research staff and students in research methods and equipment operation. The technician will also set up and operate laboratory equipment and monitor research supplies, initiating procurement requests as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED
  • 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree
  • 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required

Responsibilities
