The Research Senior Technician will assist and support scientific investigation as directed in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology. This role involves independently conducting assigned experiments, performing a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures. Responsibilities include PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, Northern and Western analysis, sorting and processing tissue and blood samples, testing and evaluating current procedures, and performing routine procedures on lab animals. The technician will also record, consolidate, and assist with the analysis of research results, help evaluate the validity of data, and summarize data for grant proposals and manuscripts. Additionally, the role involves preparing research progress reports, assisting the principal investigator with publications, conducting library research, maintaining accurate records of laboratory activities, and assisting with training junior research staff and students. The technician will also set up and operate laboratory equipment and monitor research supplies, initiating procurement requests as needed.
