Research Technician 3 in the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity to assist and support scientific investigation as directed, studying Mycobacterium tuberculosis manipulation of macrophage pathways to promote bacterial survival and reduce treatment effectiveness; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of immune cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular, imaging, and data analysis research techniques and procedures; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; tests and evaluates current procedures; performs routine procedures on lab animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
