About The Position

Leads research efforts for the agronomic weed science program in the areas of herbicide efficacy and integrated pest management. Performs operational management of field trials associated with herbicide evaluation. Oversees research at CFAES stations and on-farm efforts across Ohio. Manages agronomic aspects of field trials including pests, diseases, fertility, and cultural practices to ensure unbiased evaluation of weed management. Conducts research activities independently and applies judgement within defined parameters. Develops and implements new or revised methods for field trial conduction evaluating herbicide efficacy and integrated pest management strategies. Applies industry knowledge and experience in application of concepts and technical capabilities, including management of trials and training of students, visiting scholars, and new staff as requested by supervisor. Manages research equipment, including routine maintenance, repairs and purchases. Assists with greenhouse and lab research and outreach activities. Prepares research reports for industry collaborators. Assists with writing and publishing journal articles, fact sheets, and bulletins with research results. Presents results at state, regional and national conferences, and uses results to assist with teaching weed management to clientele. Collaborates with faculty, staff, students, clientele, and university and industry partners on research initiatives. Provides support, expertise and assistance to other research programs. Maintains valid Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) pesticide applicator's license.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience required; 1 year of relevant experience required with master's degree.
  • 3 years of relevant experience required with bachelor's degree.
  • Maintains valid Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) pesticide applicator's license.
