The Research Security and Export Control Office at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR), is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with federal research security requirements and U.S. export control laws while supporting broader objectives. Research security and export control regulations apply to a subset of activities conducted in support of the university’s research and education missions. These activities primarily include those involving federally funded research, international collaborations, sensitive technologies, and efforts to mitigate undue foreign influence. The Program Manager plays a central role in administering UW–Madison’s research security compliance program, with supporting responsibilities in export control. This position conducts research security risk assessments, supports compliance reviews, develops and implements risk mitigation measures, and provides guidance to faculty and staff on regulatory requirements. The Program Manager assists in developing, maintaining, and implementing research security policies, procedures, and workflows, while coordinating outreach and training efforts to promote awareness and compliance across campus.
