Research Scientist, Case Lab

MIT•Cambridge, MA

About The Position

The Research Scientist 2 in Biology, Case Lab will lead the day-to-day execution of a federally funded project developing high-throughput technology to study biomolecular condensate formation on supported lipid bilayers and lipid vesicles. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the scientist will coordinate experimental activities, guide research staff and trainees, monitor project milestones, and ensure timely completion of deliverables. The role applies protein biochemistry, membrane biophysics, and quantitative imaging techniques to investigate condensate formation, composition, and dynamics. It also includes integrating laboratory automation, analyzing large-scale imaging and biochemical datasets, developing image-analysis pipelines, and maintaining data integrity. The scientist will mentor and train team members, coordinate project meetings, communicate with collaborators, prepare progress reports, and assist with laboratory resource management. The role also involves developing and documenting standard operating procedures, maintaining research equipment, and contributing ideas to improve research methods and technology. The appointment is initially for one year, with possible extension based on performance, funding availability, and programmatic needs.
