Plans, coordinates, directs, and participates in work of smaller research project or major unit of large research project in field of specialization for which incumbent is particularly qualified in terms of extensive training and/or experience. This role involves designing, leading, and executing independent and collaborative research projects, developing and applying advanced experimental approaches such as single-cell multi-omics, CRISPR/Cas-mediated genome editing, cell culture, and mouse disease models. The scientist will investigate transcriptional, epigenetic, and metabolic programs that govern T cell fate decisions and therapeutic responsiveness, analyze and interpret complex biological datasets, and integrate computational and experimental findings to generate new hypotheses and drive research directions. Contributions to translational research efforts using patient-derived samples to identify pathways that influence anti-tumor immunity and immunotherapy outcomes are expected. The role also includes preparing manuscripts, figures, and grant applications, presenting findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences, and supervising and mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff, providing training in experimental design, data analysis, and laboratory techniques.
