About The Position

The Advanced Programs and Exploitation (APEX) team with Lockheed Martin in Boulder is looking for a research scientist to support ongoing programs and internal research and development efforts. The APEX team supports multiple programs related to mission processing applications of remote sensing payloads and multi-int fusion. This position will be expected to work in coordination with our research scientists, FPGA engineers, and software engineers for all activities required to develop, test, and deliver prototype and fully capable systems. The role involves working with software engineers to develop C++ and Python code, performing data analysis to evaluate various mission processing solutions, providing algorithm expertise for detection, tracking, and multi-int fusion, optimizing the performance of a signal processing chain, and possibly working on AI/ML algorithm applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) from an accredited institution or an equivalent blend of education, training, and minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in MatLab and another programming language
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Active secret clearance
  • Proficiency in C++ &/or Python
  • Linux OS background/Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Applied mathematics or algorithm development experience
  • Experience working with data structures
  • Strong experience in software design and development.
  • Familiarity with tracking &/or signal processing algorithms
  • Experience with containerization tools like Docker
  • Experience with a machine learning platform such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
  • Experience with machine learning for image segmentation and image generation
  • Experience with software vision control such as GIT

Responsibilities

  • Work in coordination with research scientists, FPGA engineers, and software engineers for all activities required to develop, test, and deliver prototype and fully capable systems.
  • Work with software engineers to develop C++ and Python code.
  • Perform data analysis to evaluate various mission processing solutions to determine the best one for various missions.
  • Provide algorithm expertise (for detection, tracking and multi-int fusion purposes).
  • Optimize performance of a signal processing chain.
  • Possibly work on AI/ML algorithm applications.
