About The Position

This Research Scientist position involves the investigation of brain signals in animal models of temporal lobe epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease using advanced electrophysiology approaches and targeted neurostimulation. Specifically, the position involves implantation of electrode arrays, design and construction of implants, implant optimization, data acquisition, advanced processing of such recordings and post-mortem histology. Advanced neurofeedback protocols will be implemented to test candidate therapeutic interventions to mitigate comorbid behaviors. Additionally, the position involves clinically-relevant behavioral tests and integration of human datasets to translate preclinical discoveries into breakthrough and actionable clinical targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of professional research in an appropriate field or master's degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of the experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience with coding and advanced signal analyses of neural signals
  • Prior documented experience with behavioral paradigms and simultaneous recordings of brain electrical activity
  • Experience with high precision stereotaxic surgeries and histological validations in mice
  • Experience with machine learning and advanced statistical analyses
  • Experience with quantitative EEG analyses and biomarker discovery in a clinical/industry setting

Responsibilities

  • Data collection and analyses of multichannel electrophysiology signals
  • Development and implementation of advanced signal processing pipelines using Python and clustering algorithms
  • EEG surgeries in mice and post-mortem histology
  • Analyses of human EEG datasets to enhance translational relevance and back-translation of preclinical findings
  • Coordination of data analyses with internal and external clinical and preclinical collaborators
  • Presentation of data in conferences
