The field of research for this position involves single particle cryo-electron microscopy and X-ray crystallization of viral glycoproteins, immunogen design, virology, biochemistry, and biophysics. The primary goal of the research project(s) is to develop vaccines and therapeutics targeting human pathogens. The role involves structure-based and machine-learning immunogen design for protein subunit and mRNA vaccines, characterization of protein antigenicity, performing structural studies using cryo-electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography, designing and executing virology assays, analyzing data to guide research strategy, leading projects, interacting with collaborators, writing manuscripts, and providing guidance to project staff, students, and postdocs.
