About The Position

Xyant Technology is seeking a 5G/6G Wireless Communications Research Scientist for a 12-month contract position in Ann Arbor, MI. This role involves contributing to 3GPP 5G/6G standardization, conducting research and development in wireless communications for connected mobility, and participating in standardization meetings. The position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant field, strong knowledge of wireless communications (4G LTE/5G NR, Layer 1 & 2), and experience with 3GPP standardization. Experience in vehicular communications, V2X, connected mobility, and/or ISAC is highly preferred. The role also involves developing invention disclosures, patent activities, and academic publications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field
• Research and development experience in wireless communications
• Strong knowledge of 4G LTE / 5G NR
• Strong understanding of wireless communications at Layer 1 (PHY) and Layer 2
• Previous experience contributing to 3GPP standardization, preferably RAN1
• Strong patent/invention record related to 4G LTE and/or 5G NR
• Strong research, technical writing and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for standardization meetings

Nice To Haves

• Experience in vehicular communications, V2X, connected mobility and/or ISAC is highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Contribute to 3GPP 5G/6G standardization, including areas such as Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC)
• Develop and submit 3GPP RAN1/RAN2 technical contributions
• Participate in 3GPP RAN standardization meetings
• Conduct research and development in wireless communications for connected mobility
• Propose and lead research projects with internal and external collaboration partners
• Develop invention disclosures and contribute to patent activities
• Prepare academic publications based on research outcomes
• Contribute to other standards and industry consortia such as SAE, ETSI, IEEE 802, 5GAA and AECC
• Present research findings to technical teams and management
