About The Position

BEMP (Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program) is looking for a part-time botanist to assist with bosque site vegetation surveys. This role will involve conducting vegetation monitoring using line intercept methods in the Middle Rio Grande Bosque along 120 miles of the Rio Grande. The position requires approximately 10 hours per week (2 mornings/week) through early October. The successful candidate must be able to identify plants to species and record cover along ten 30-meter transects at up to 15 sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to identify plants to species.
  • Ability to record cover along ten 30-meter transects at up to 15 sites.
  • Must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement if providing services or working in patient care or clinical areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with plants of the Rio Grande Bosque, including native and nonnative grasses and forbs.
