The Research Scholar leads a highly specialized or multifaceted research program and directs the work of other research associates and research assistants. Performs other duties as needed. The Lawrence D. Longo, MD Center for Perinatal Biology seeks to recruit a Research Scholar with strong expertise in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to serve as a shared scientific resource for its NIH-funded faculty investigators. This position will play a central role in designing, optimizing, and executing EPR-based measurements across a broad range of biological systems—including human and animal tissues, cell-culture models, and biochemical preparations—addressing research themes such as acute and chronic hypoxia, ischemia–reperfusion injury, and inflammation. Working closely with multiple laboratories, the candidate will enable and expand the Center’s use of its Bruker ELEXSYS E500 X-band EPR spectrometer, providing guidance on experimental design, instrument operation, data interpretation, and methodological innovation to support high-impact perinatal biology research.
