About The Position

The Research Protections Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for the university's research compliance programs, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). This position coordinates protocol submissions, assists with review processes, maintains accurate records and tracking systems, and serves as a primary point of contact for investigator inquiries regarding research compliance.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in IRB administration
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply the federal regulations and guidance pertaining to human subject research.
  • CITI certification in Human Subjects Research, IACUC/Animal Research, Responsible Conduct of Research, IBC/Biosafety/Biosecurity, Research Security. (All trainings will be available to employee as part of the onboarding process.)
  • Basic computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must possess a demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as manage multiple priorities within the given deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Masters or other advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the intake, tracking, and processing of IRB, IBC, and IACUC submissions and ensure complete and accurate documentation throughout the review lifecycle.
  • Conduct reviews of IRB Exempt status protocols.
  • Process IRB amendments, final reports, and continuing reviews.
  • Maintain research compliance databases, tracking systems, and official records to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Serve as a primary resource for investigators by responding to questions related to submission requirements, electronic protocol systems, training requirements, and research administration processes.
  • Provide administrative support for IRB, IBC, and IACUC meetings.
  • Escalate regulatory and policy-related questions to leadership as appropriate.
  • Support continuous process improvement efforts and perform additional administrative duties that support the effective operation of research protections programs.
