About The Position

This internship is for undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year, and graduate students pursuing a master's degree, with an interest in international development, education, and artificial intelligence. It offers a pre-professional learning experience with meaningful, practical work related to their field of study or career interest. Interns will engage in career exploration and development, learn new skills, attend meetings, think tank events, professional development workshops, and public Brookings events. They will also have the opportunity to network with other interns. The internship pays an hourly rate of $18.40 and requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week during regular business hours, with some flexibility for academic schedules. The internship requires the intern to be located in the U.S. for its duration and is open to hybrid and/or remote applicants, with hybrid work involving regular in-person presence at the Washington, DC office. Specific states are excluded for work location.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year.
  • Graduate students pursuing a master's degree.
  • Interest in international development, education, and artificial intelligence.
  • Ability to apply principles and theory learned in the classroom in a professional environment.
  • Located in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
  • Ability to live and work in states other than Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington.
  • Commitment to a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours, with flexibility around academic schedules.
  • Proficiency in Canva and other tools to design social media posts.
  • Understanding of LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and X as communication platforms.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD students are not eligible for internships.

Responsibilities

  • Support with preparation and materials for meetings, events, presentations, and publications.
  • Organize and input data into databases.
  • Assist with general office support, special projects, and other assigned duties.
  • Assist in creating social media and communications content using tools like Canva.
  • Design engaging social media posts for platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and X.
  • Conduct background research on topics such as education technology and family/community engagement in education.
  • Draft summaries of research findings for potential use in blog posts or reports.
  • Support dissemination and presentation preparation for a recently released report and associated materials.
