About The Position

The School of Human Environmental Sciences has a nutrition program in which one Research Professional I position will be administered. This position is supervised by Dr. Sabrina Trudo and the position will be housed at the Microbiome and Metabolism Research Unit in Little Rock, AR as a collaborative effort to work on USDA-ARS projects. The qualified candidate will provide research support to projects that investigate the impact of maternal dietary components on the gut microbiota and its impact on maternal-child health, leveraging clinical studies, animal studies, and in vitro cell culture models. The position involves assisting USDA-ARS scientists with coordinating and collecting data for studies as well as analyzing tissue, serum, stool/GI contents (taken from clinical studies, rodents), cells, and foods. This position will also include maintaining inventories, laboratory equipment, detailed laboratory notebooks, and chemical reagents. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • BS in nutritional science or animal science or physiology or biochemistry or biology or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience working with animals and/or cells.
  • Experience with pipetting.
  • Experience with lab-based techniques.
  • Experience with data analysis software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with rodents.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., analyses of protein, DNA, RNA, etc.).

Responsibilities
