About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Brain Stimulation Division. This role will assist in coordinating, planning, and implementing research protocols, including subject recruitment, testing, sample selection, and data recording for human research. The position also offers career development mentoring for those interested in graduate studies in medicine, neuroscience, psychology, or related fields. The individual will support studies involving non-invasive brain stimulation to improve cognition and emotion regulation in healthy participants and patients with neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. Experience will be gained with transcranial magnetic stimulation, EEG/ERPs, physiological measures, MRI, and cognitive/emotional performance tasks, as well as self-report measures for inattention, stress, anxiety, and depression.

  • A bachelor's degree and one year of relevant program experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science or related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in research is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Prior experience with EEG, fMRI or other physiological measures.
  • Prior experience with TMS or other brain stimulation techniques.
  • Ability to use computer word and data processing programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, MATLAB, R, and SPSS.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for promoting participant comfort and sensitivity to potential distress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment and screening of research participants, including developing advertising materials, contacting potential participants, distributing materials, and collaborating with relevant providers and researchers.
  • Obtain informed consent, enroll study participants, conduct study visits as per protocols, and provide educational information to subjects.
  • Assist with non-invasive brain stimulation sessions.
  • Conduct study visits before and after regular working hours when necessary to accommodate participant schedules, MRI availability, etc.
  • Coordinate proper data management collection according to protocol requirements and compliance. Maintain behavioral, diagnostic, and EEG/fMRI/physiological data and retrieve data from large databases for reporting and analysis.
  • Initiate and maintain accurate and comprehensive records as required by the FDA, IRB, sponsors, and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. Schedule and participate in sponsor and/or IRB monitoring visits.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings to review study progress.
