About The Position

The Department of Public Health Sciences at The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to work on research projects focused on family caregivers of cancer patients. The Program Assistant will work with researchers, clinicians, patients, and caregivers in the clinical setting. The job tasks will include participating in administration, planning, implementation, and data collection activities for several ongoing research studies. The job will provide training and experience in participant recruitment, intervention delivery, and data collection and management strategies. Experience working in a research setting and/or with data management tools such as REDCap is preferred. Must work well in teams, be flexible, have the ability to think creatively, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and three years of relevant program experience.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
  • General understanding of scientific theory and methods.
  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with human study participants, both in person and virtually.
  • Proactive and energetic individual who can bring a strong energy to fostering team relationships and engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a research setting and/or with data management tools such as REDCap is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in patient screening, recruitment, and enrollment activities according to protocol procedures.
  • Provides routine updates on status of research activities in team meetings.
  • Support project operations through administrative tasks such as meeting coordination, team scheduling, and managing internal and external communication.
  • Perform data collection, data entry and data management activities.
  • Support development, refinement and updating of project tools (e.g., intervention materials, resources for caregivers).
  • Participate with team to implement study intervention activities (i.e., coordination of trainings, technical support, and facilitation) at each site.
  • Supports team in adhering to regulatory requirements with preparation of reports and detailed electronic record keeping.
  • Perform literature reviews and assist with grant-writing and manuscript development tasks.
