About The Position

The Hearing Research Program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC is seeking a full-time, in-person Research Assistant to support ongoing studies examining the brain systems that support speech recognition in noise, and how these systems may change in older adults with listening difficulties. The Research Assistant will play an important role in the lab by serving as a point of contact for study participants and assisting with behavioral and MRI data collection. This position is a strong opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on research experience in hearing science, cognitive neuroscience, and neuroimaging methods. The role may be especially well suited for someone considering future graduate or professional training in audiology and hearing sciences, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, medicine, or a related field.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and four years of relevant program experience.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment, screening, scheduling, and consenting of research participants
  • Conduct behavioral assessments, including cognitive, speech, and hearing-related tasks
  • Assist with MRI data collection and study visit procedures
  • Basic data processing
  • Communicate with participants and lab members to help ensure that study visits run smoothly
  • Check research data for completeness and accuracy
  • Support basic data organization
