About The Position

The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and The University of North Carolina School of Medicine seek a Research Professor to lead efforts in Cancer Data Science. This part-time, fixed-term appointment will support the research cornerstone of Lineberger’s future and provide strategic guidance in planning, implementing, and evaluating the cancer center’s new strategic plan, with a particular focus on data science integration across all mission areas. This faculty will provide guidance on training and career development programs in cancer data science as well as mentor junior faculty and trainees, as appropriate. It is expected that they will support interdisciplinary collaborations among clinicians, basic scientists, population scientists, and computational researchers.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
  • Familiarity with UNC Health data systems or comparable academic health systems
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to large-scale collaborative grants (e.g., P01, U01, SPORE, CCSG components)
  • Experience integrating data science into translational or population health research
  • Expertise in cloud computing, secure data environments, and large-scale data platforms

Responsibilities
