The School of Engineering at the University of St. Thomas is seeking a full-time, Research Professor (limited term, non-tenure track) in Power Systems Engineering to join the Center for Microgrid Research (CMR). This role also includes serving as the Assistant Director of the CMR. The position focuses on power system controls, protection, optimization, and AI/ML applications, with a strong preference for candidates with experimental and hardware-in-the-loop experience. This is a renewable, grant-funded, benefits-eligible term appointment for up to 5 years. The successful candidate will contribute to applied research, strategic partnerships, and funded programs, working closely with the Center's Director, faculty, industry partners, and students on projects related to microgrids, distributed energy systems, and grid modernization. Responsibilities include defining and executing the research agenda, overseeing sponsored research and lab operations, and contributing to the professional development of student researchers. The role may also involve teaching graduate or undergraduate courses in collaboration with the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department.
