About The Position

The TES Research & Production Specialist will assist graduate students working with live fish/shrimp in a research and production setting. Duties may include sample processing, analysis, data recording, animal care (fish and shrimp), and system maintenance. Pond work may involve sample collection, pond management, and maintenance of research systems. This is a temporary assignment based on need and funding. Temporary Employment Services (TES) is a unit of Auburn University's Department of Human Resources, providing temporary employees for various staffing needs across the university. TES hires temporary employees for reasons such as covering for absent regular employees, handling peak workloads, assisting with special projects, seasonal work, and emergencies. TES offers an opportunity to showcase professional skills, assist Auburn University, and gain valuable work experience in higher education. Auburn University students are not eligible for TES.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Candidate needs to be capable of swimming.
  • B.S. in Biological Sciences or related field is acceptable.
  • Experience in aquaculture environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Lab competencies in water quality and nutritional analysis as well as fish/shrimp husbandry and aquaculture experience are an asset.
  • The ability to work in a team laboratory setting as well as independently is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the feeding and care of animals (fish/shrimp) to include lifting heavy bags of feed.
  • Assisting grad students with sampling and sampling processing.
  • Assisting with general lab and field duties.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Work in a group environment as well as independently as directed.
