About The Position

AQR is a global investment firm focused on delivering long-term results through rigorous testing of financial theories. They emphasize academic excellence, intellectual honesty, and collaboration. The 10-week summer internship program provides interns with real work experience, insights from the Quanta Academy Summer Term curriculum, and exposure to systematic investing. Learning is a key component, with structured educational, skill-building, and networking events through the AQR Quanta Academy: Summer Term. The Product Specialist team acts as a bridge between AQR's portfolio management and research processes and other functional areas, particularly business development. They are involved in creating, marketing, and managing AQR products, including new product research and development, content creation for presentations, client onboarding, portfolio monitoring, performance analysis, and client/prospect interactions. Product specialists represent portfolio management teams in communications with other firm departments such as portfolio implementation, trading, business development, legal, compliance, risk, operations, and marketing. They are expected to possess in-depth knowledge of the strategies they cover and act as in-house experts. This specific role will support senior specialists in producing and sharing customized analytics for client portfolios, both internally and externally. The position requires advanced technical and analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and an interest in client and business needs. It is important to note that this role is distinct from the Research internship and does not involve signal research or portfolio construction work.

Requirements

  • December 2027 or Spring 2028 graduate in a quantitative field (e.g. Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, etc.) with a desire to work in the financial services industry
  • Programming skills; Python highly preferred
  • Strong problem solving and quantitative skills
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to focus in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • Results oriented

Responsibilities

  • Support senior specialists in producing and sharing customized analytics for client portfolios internally and externally.
  • Prepare review materials covering monthly, quarterly, and yearly performance.
  • Create presentations used by business development.
  • Work with tools to enhance and streamline data used in client portfolio reviews.
  • Analyze portfolio exposures and performance using existing tools.
  • Drive the development of new monitoring tools.
  • Be familiar with fund’s investment parameters, and review these on a regular basis.
