About The Position

This per-diem Research Pharmacist position is responsible for managing all drug supplies for clinical studies at the Clinic. This includes meticulous documentation of receipt, dispensation, and return of drugs. The role ensures that all staff adhere to established packaging and preparation procedures for doses, and maintains quality assurance for pharmacy technician documentation and dose preparation. The Research Pharmacist works closely with department management to oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations and management. Flexibility with scheduling, particularly in the mornings, is crucial due to the per-diem nature of the role and varying business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in the applicable state or eligible to receive licensure within required timeframe
  • National, State or Local licensures and certifications as required
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years).
  • Knowledge of clinical research procedures
  • Knowledge of drug information
  • Skilled in preparation of sterile products
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Effective time management and project management skills
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Frequent mobility required.
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Kneeling, twisting of upper body / neck, and pushing / pulling of items required occasionally.
  • Lifting / carrying objects of 5-25 lbs. required daily.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Pharmacy Lead on incoming clinical study protocols; plans and prepares for accurate dosing including packaging, preparation, and administration of doses.
  • Anticipates potential dosing errors and develops a plan of action to prevent their occurrence.
  • Ensures adequate supplies of clinical samples are retained with documentation of random selection procedure, as required for study.
  • Serves as liaison and consultant to sponsors concerning pharmacy details for future and current protocols.
  • Interacts as a vital member of the project team offering guidance in pharmacy procedures and operations specific to each protocol.
  • Serves as departmental resource for pharmacy related clinical inquiries from Investigators, clinic training and support staff, Client Services, Sponsor companies, and others as needed.
  • Participates in cross training activities with other departments.
  • Works with management on improving department processes and needs.
  • Understands and effectively uses corporate procurement procedures.
  • Performs special duties and assignments as needed.
  • Accounts for all drug supplies received for studies at the Clinic including documentation of receipt, dispensation, and return of drug.
  • Ensures that established packaging and preparation of dose procedures are followed by all staff.
  • Ensures quality assurance regarding all pharmacy technician documentation and preparation of doses.
