About The Position

Perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Works with complex systems or perform highly technical mechanical or diagnostic tests in medical or scientific laboratories. Assists the laboratory manager to perform complex laboratory maintenance tasks and other laboratory projects, as assigned. Will assists senior level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. The technician will carry out routine tasks such as preparation of media and reagents, place orders for supplies, help maintain inventory and place lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Cell culture maintenance - media changes and cell passaging
  • Monthly mycoplasma testing
  • Preparing buffers/media
  • DNA extractions
  • PCRs
  • General lab upkeep - waste removal, stocking, monitoring inventory
  • Providing support to generate ROs
  • Providing support in the transfection workflow, i.e. preparation of Matrigel plates, cell seeding, amplifying constructs, screening single colonies.
  • Other duties assigned
