About The Position

This position is for a Research Technician to work on the production and analysis of antibiotic-like compounds produced by non-pathogenic soil bacteria. The role involves conducting, evaluating, and maintaining experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and managing data. The technician will also maintain a safe and clean lab space, train and manage undergraduates in research conduct, and restock chemical and consumable inventories. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
  • Experience in sterile technique, molecular biology, and basic biochemistry
  • Good communication, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task effectively
  • For applicants with molecular biology or biochemistry backgrounds, expertise in routine plasmid construction, PCR experimental design and execution, clone library construction, and/or protein expression and affinity purification are critical; proficiency in bacterial genetics is strongly desired.
  • For applicants with a more chemistry background, expertise in using reverse phase and/or normal phase chromatography, HPLC/MS use and maintenance is needed; specific experience with small molecule chromatography/purification/quantification is strongly desired.
