About The Position

This position is for a Research Technician to work on the production and analysis of antibiotic-like compounds produced by non-pathogenic soil bacteria. The role involves conducting, evaluating, and maintaining experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and managing data. The technician will also maintain a safe and clean lab space, train and manage undergraduates in research conduct, and restock chemical and consumable inventories. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
Experience in sterile technique, molecular biology, and basic biochemistry
Good communication, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task effectively
For applicants with molecular biology or biochemistry backgrounds, expertise in routine plasmid construction, PCR experimental design and execution, clone library construction, and/or protein expression and affinity purification are critical; proficiency in bacterial genetics is strongly desired.
For applicants with a more chemistry background, expertise in using reverse phase and/or normal phase chromatography, HPLC/MS use and maintenance is needed; specific experience with small molecule chromatography/purification/quantification is strongly desired.
