About The Position
Postdoctoral research positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Fabienne Fiesel to investigate pathogenic mechanisms of neurodegeneration at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. The Fiesel lab studies molecular pathways that regulate tau biology and protein homeostasis, with a particular interest in UFMylation and how alterations therein contribute to Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The lab employs a multi-disciplinary approach using state-of-the-art techniques in cell biology, biochemistry, imaging, and proteomics to illuminate the underlying disease biology in iPSC-derived cell models, in vivo in mice, and in human clinical and neuropathological specimens.
Requirements
- Highly motivated candidates holding a recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.
- Strong research background in neuroscience, cell biology, or biochemistry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Responsibilities
- Investigation of mechanisms regulating tau aggregation and propagation in Alzheimer’s disease and related tauopathies
- Identification of UFM1-modified proteins and pathways using biochemical and proteomic approaches
- Mechanistic studies of tau and UFMylation in iPSC-derived cells and mouse models
- Genetic and pharmacological modulation of UFMylation as a potential therapeutic strategy
