About The Position

The Research Farm Assistant, reporting to the Manager of The Ohio State University’s Eastern Agricultural Research Station, will assist with farm operations related to beef cattle and sheep production. This role involves performing animal operations specific to beef cattle and sheep production, including feeding, calving, moving animals in working facilities and pastures, and other operations within a research environment. The assistant will also aid in animal health care, manure handling and application to fields, and the loading and transporting of animals to other OSU campuses and market destinations using a truck and trailer. General operations such as grounds maintenance, and facilities and machinery maintenance are also part of the duties. The position requires operating tractors, mowers of various sizes, hay harvesting, and other farm equipment, as well as cleaning, repairing, and adjusting equipment and work areas. Additionally, the role involves assisting with recording data and collecting samples. Similar duties may be required at other OSU locations. The position is located in Jackson, Ohio, and works an adjusted schedule according to operational needs.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• 0 years of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities
