About The Position

The Research Engineering/Scientist Associate I (RESA I) position is part of the Center for Energy and Environmental Systems Analysis within the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering at the Cockrell School of Engineering. This role involves participating in mobile measurements in Austin, Texas, and environmental chamber experiments conducted at UT Austin. The position may also assist other projects through data collection and analysis. The Cockrell School of Engineering is a top-10 engineering school with a strong history of technology innovation and education, situated in Austin, Texas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with measurements
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Ability to work well in collaborative, various teams
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in statistical modeling, data analysis, and scientific programming languages (Python, Matlab, or R)
  • Familiarity with a variety of air quality instrumentation

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes data collected in Austin and in environmental chamber experiments.
  • Conducts mobile measurements of particulate matter in and near the UT Austin campus.
  • Communicates with collaborators throughout the project and shares findings with the scientific community, including assistance in preparing peer-reviewed publications.
  • Assists in conducting laboratory chamber experiments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
