About The Position

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s College of Engineering invites applications for an Aerospace Engineering Research Engineer to support faculty and student research within the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Daytona Beach Campus. This hands-on position plays an important role in the safe and effective operation of aerospace laboratories, workshops, and wind-tunnel facilities while helping researchers transform ideas into working experimental systems. The successful candidate will combine strong engineering fundamentals with practical fabrication, computer-aided design, laboratory operations, and safety expertise. The role regularly collaborates with faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, researchers, university partners, and external scientists and engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Three to five years of related experience, including experience in experimental aerodynamics, engineering research, laboratory operations, or a closely related area.
  • Advanced CAD experience, part design, assembly design, kinematics, finite element analysis, and engineering drawings, with emphasis on current GD&T standards.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, solid mechanics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, advanced computational methods, and nonlinear finite element methods.
  • Knowledge of aviation and aerospace instrumentation, sensors, and wind-tunnel operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work productively with faculty, students, researchers, industry professionals, and technical and nontechnical colleagues.
  • Demonstrated team-building, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision and to manage multiple priorities safely and responsibly.
  • Experience working with and guiding young adults in laboratory, workshop, research, or educational settings.
  • United States citizenship.
