Ford Motor Company is seeking a Research Engineer to join their Research and Advanced Engineering team. This hybrid position, located in Dearborn, Michigan, requires the employee to live within a reasonable commuting distance. The role focuses on developing high-voltage (HV) battery technologies for electric vehicles, addressing challenges in safety, cost, life, fast charge time, and range. Responsibilities include leading the design of sophisticated HV battery system technologies across thermal, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines, identifying system-level interfaces and requirements, leading the design of battery components or sub-systems, and supporting the modeling and validation of advanced HV battery systems and components through CAE and testing, with a focus on durability and crash safety. The engineer will also lead failure mode analysis documentation (e.g., FMEAs, P-diagrams, interface diagrams), collaborate with suppliers, and support internal customers like the propulsion systems team and vehicle architecture using CAD and CAE tools.
