SRI International•Boulder, CO
•$104,139 - $154,903•Onsite

About The Position

SRI is seeking a Research Engineer III with a strong background in RF and systems engineering to develop, integrate, and evaluate advanced radar, communications, and sensing systems. The role emphasizes RF system architecture, requirements development, system-level design and analysis, hardware/software integration, and hands-on prototype development and testing. This is an onsite position in Boulder, Colorado, within SRI’s Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD). The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams working across RF hardware, antennas, digital signal processing, embedded computing, software, and firmware. Applications include radar, communications, electronic warfare, remote sensing, quantum sensing, and photonics. The work can span initial concepts and requirements through prototype development, field demonstrations, and technology transition. The position requires a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with relevant experience specified by degree: B.S. plus 5 years, M.S. plus 3 years, or Ph.D. plus 0–1 year. Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. The role requires a strong foundation in RF and microwave engineering, experience with complex RF systems and system-level requirements, familiarity with digital signal processing and real-time processing platforms, and proficiency in engineering or programming environments such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++. Occasional travel for testing, demonstrations, and customer engagement is expected. The salary range is $104,139–$154,903. Compensation varies based on factors including geographic location, market competitiveness, and internal equity. The position may also qualify for SRI’s Pay for Outstanding Performance program or annual Performance Based Compensation program. SRI offers a competitive benefits package; details are available on SRI’s benefits website. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
