About The Position

The Research Data Scientist participates in biomedical research projects using programming, data mining, statistics, machine learning, and visualization to lead the development, evaluation, or application of algorithms, methods, and software for data analysis. The role includes querying databases; processing, cleaning, and quality-checking data; applying supervised and unsupervised machine learning and parametric and nonparametric statistical methods; deploying production models; and communicating scientific findings through peer-reviewed publications and scientific conferences. The scientist writes clean, performant, reusable code managed on GitHub to support repeatable analyses and train and deploy models to multiple environments. The position is part of the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Research Center at Cedars-Sinai, whose mission is to use AI to address gaps in mechanisms, diagnostics, risk assessment, and therapeutics for major human diseases. The center uses clinical data and collaborating-site data to develop ethically vetted, evaluated, validated, and implemented research. The Research Data Scientist works with senior and lead research data scientists and principal investigators to identify how data science can advance biomedical research questions.
