As a Research Data Scientist in the DDI, you will apply advanced statistical, mathematical, and machine learning methodologies to develop algorithms and deliver high-impact data analytics that drive research insights and innovation. In this role, you will be part of the Data Analytics and Computational Science group and help build out the trauma research program by integrating data from multiple sources to improve accessibility, efficiency, and analysis. You will contribute to AI-focused projects and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary research teams while serving as a team lead, providing training, mentorship, and technical guidance to support the growth and effectiveness of fellow team members.

Requirements

  • M.S. or PhD in computer science/statistics/software engineering/bioinformatics or related field and three years of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis OR Bachelor’s degree and six years of related experience OR Master’s degree in related field and one year of related experience, working with statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis OR PhD in related field
  • Highly proficient with programing skills in languages such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Utilize methods in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AL), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Natural Language Processing (NLP) to design and implement data solutions.
  • Build complex predictive models, mix models, attribution models and other mathematical or statistical models as needed by using modeling tools.
  • Develop methods, novel algorithms and/or high-level data analysis that integrates implementation, visualization and database management of multi-dimensional clinical or biological datasets.
  • Serve as a team lead to the Principal Investigator, providing training, mentoring and instruction to other lab members in tools and data analysis.
  • Communicate and present research findings to Principal Investigator, greater research community and forums.
  • Other duties as assigned.
