About The Position

The Department of Investigational Cancer Therapeutics conducts broad Phase 1 studies across disease boundaries and molecular targets. We strive to provide outstanding patient care while performing innovative Phase 1 trials with new drugs that may eventually improve the management of cancer. The primary purpose of the Coordinator, Research Data is to provide administrative and patient care services for the coordination of research studies. Coordinates and gathers patient data for research studies.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of related experience
  • Professional written communication skills
  • Office support experience
  • Data entry experience

Responsibilities

  • Communicate verbally and in writing with internal reviewers, pharmaceutical sponsors, the National Cancer Institute, the Food and Drug Administration, and other external agencies as requested by study investigators
  • Complete regulatory forms and ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements for study initiation, conduct, and closure
  • Coordinate and distribute study-related materials and correspondence to institutional, state, and federal agencies
  • Prepare monthly, semiannual, annual, and protocol-specific reports for sponsoring agencies
  • Inform sponsors and collaborators of protocol regulatory status during formal departmental protocol review meetings
  • Collect specimens according to protocol requirements
  • Maintain protocol and grant paper flow systems, including reference filing systems
  • Maintain and update protocol reference materials
  • Assist in preparing interim data status reports using the Patient Data Management System
  • Assist research nurses and clinical research personnel with patient-related activities
  • Answer and professionally screen incoming office phone calls
  • Pick up blood and tissue specimens accurately and within required timelines
  • Transport specimens to appropriate locations in accordance with protocol requirements
  • Prepare tissue specimens according to protocol specifications
  • Review medical records and extract required study data points
  • Transfer patient information into electronic databases and casebooks
  • Perform accurate and timely data entry into research databases and casebooks
  • Make survival calls and appropriately record collected information
  • Maintain accurate and current patient flowsheets
  • Enter and track toxicities, adverse events, follow-up visits, dose modifications, and other protocol-required data
  • Ensure research data are complete, accurate, and up to date
  • Attend department research meetings, conferences, and training sessions
  • Attend approved off-site meetings and conferences
  • Maintain professional expertise through reference materials, lectures, and educational resources
  • Arrive punctually to all professional functions
  • Arrange appropriate coverage and notify staff when absent
  • Adhere to clinical trial policies and procedures outlined in departmental training manuals and weekly training sessions
  • Generate professional documents using word processing, spreadsheet, and related software applications
  • Assist with coordination and preparation of monthly protocol review updates
  • Communicate upcoming deadlines, meetings, and research requirements to appropriate stakeholders
  • Enter monitor visits for the department, CTRC, and Pharmacy into Clinic Station
  • Perform other duties as assigned
