About The Position

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a part-time Spanish-English bilingual Research Data Associate to support clinical research projects, primarily for the Strengthening Screening and Referrals for Social Needs Project in the Department of Pediatrics. This role will work with Medical Center staff and interface with patients and their families. The research focuses on the impact of policy to address social needs related to early obesity risk, aiming to reduce disparities and understand how policy implementation may contribute to mitigating social needs and promoting healthier practices. The Associate will also support additional research projects focusing on environmental and experiential differences shaping early nutrition security and healthy growth, with an emphasis on pediatric interventions and social determinants of health.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit research participants and obtain informed consent from a waiting room population.
  • Screen potential participants using study eligibility criteria.
  • Document outreach and enrollment activities.
  • Follow up with enrolled participants to complete assessments and semi-structured qualitative interviews.
  • Track participants through the life course of the study.
  • Conduct literature searches and systematic reviews to support research initiatives.
  • Assist with preparing submissions for grants and manuscripts.
  • Translate project-related documents.
  • Assist with research dissemination efforts, including preparing presentations and posters for conferences and publications.
  • Create projects and instruments on RedCap.
  • Enter all assessment data into RedCap and Excel.
  • Assist with data cleaning and data management.
  • Provide data entry, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Learn to perform basic data analysis using statistical software such as Stata and R.
  • Engage in qualitative data analysis using software such as Dedoose.
  • Support the preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials, including original protocols, amendments, updates, and renewals.
  • Keep track of all study team member requirements.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the Study Regulations binder.
  • Complete medical chart reviews at study time points to collect vital signs, weight, and applicable medical information.
  • Use medical record systems at Bellevue, NYU Langone Health, and NYU Langone Brooklyn, and request charts from other institutions.
  • Enter all medical chart review data into Redcap.
  • Work closely with the PI, research team, and external collaborators to meet project goals and deadlines.
