About The Position

The Directors Guild of America (DGA) is seeking a Research & Data Associate to join its Research Department. This role is crucial for providing comprehensive and accurate data and analysis to inform the Guild’s strategy in the dynamic entertainment industry. The associate will be responsible for maintaining and improving a global database of film and television productions, working with external data services, and supporting the modernization of internal data systems. This position offers an opportunity to learn about the Guild's internal and external databases, major studios, industry developments, and the role of unions in entertainment.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail, an ability to consistently follow regular procedures, and an ability to work independently.
  • Ability to develop new skills, ask questions, and improve how the Research Department collects and manages data.
  • High level of responsibility and discretion due to access to sensitive information.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manually enter large amounts of data into our systems daily, with high accuracy.
  • Analytical skills in math and statistics.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics applications, such as Qlik.
  • A commitment to labor unions and collective bargaining.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate degree is preferred; associate degree or work experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with the entertainment industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve a global database of film and television productions, ensuring that new projects are entered into the system and existing projects are updated and accurate.
  • Work closely with outside data and research services to ensure that the DGA has access to the most up to date and accurate information.
  • Support efforts to modernize internal data systems.
  • Assist executives and analysts in the preparation of reports, memos, and presentations.
  • Provide other Guild departments with reports and access to data.
  • Other assignments as required.
