About The Position

The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) in the Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a Research Data Analyst to support health policy research on the Johns Hopkins Drug Supply Chain Data Dashboard. This university-wide platform supports data-driven health care services research across JHU, aiming to advance solutions that address national health system challenges. The platform will provide timely insights to tackle drug shortages and supply chain disruptions, improve data transparency, and increase resiliency in the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain. The successful candidate will serve as a co-investigator on health policy projects led by Dr. Mariana Socal, focusing on areas such as drug import/export, the impact of regulatory actions on supply, and strategies for preventing and managing drug shortages. The Research Data Analyst will provide data analysis and related activities for various research projects, contributing to the development, maintenance, and use of a research data pipeline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
  • Four years of relevant quantitative research and analytics experience, with at least two of those years including complex programming experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and generate reports and models.
  • Run models, analyze model results, and prepare reports on the analysis.
  • Conduct analyses in support of the assigned research project or study.
  • Conduct statistical analyses using standard and statistical software packages.
  • Design and prepare tables to illustrate analytic findings.
  • Manage or contribute to entry of data in the assigned database.
  • May engage in other research related responsibilities.
  • Support the development of dashboards, calculations, and reports, which may require programming.
  • Support the development and tuning of machine learning models, which may require programming.
  • Integrate and harmonize complex regulatory, manufacturing, and trade datasets (e.g., FDA, DailyMed, DMF, NDC, import/export databases).
  • Support the development of infrastructure for cleaning and processing data and running experiments to evaluate system performance.
  • Mine various data resources for development of key metrics, performance indicators, and general business intelligence useful for planning and service design.
  • Perform error analysis and suggest and implement improvements.
