The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Epidemiology & Public Health is hiring a Research Data Analyst/Programmer in the Division of Maternal and Child Health. Under general supervision, the analyst/programmer will extract and analyze clinical and claims data to support research studies and proposal development for the division and its collaborators. The Department’s mission is to advance public health by investigating the causes, treatment, and prevention of human health problems. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and data analysts/programmers. The ideal candidate will have programming experience in languages such as Python, SQL, or R, along with experience analyzing and working with and an interest in healthcare data and research. This role is responsible for querying, managing, and extracting data from large clinical data repositories while designing and developing scalable data architectures and analytic frameworks to support large-scale data processing and analysis. The position ensures that analytics infrastructure and related systems meet business requirements and industry best practices by implementing procedures and protocols to monitor, analyze, and validate data integrity. Responsibilities include gathering and transforming raw data from multiple disparate sources through scripting, API integrations, and SQL queries to prepare data for analysis. The role also supports the development of big data, batch, and real-time analytical processing solutions using emerging technologies. Additionally, the individual identifies process workflows and quality assurance/control measures to effectively monitor and manage project schedules, scope, and budgets. Collaboration with other programmers is essential to maintain and manage cohorts, data extraction processes, and related code repositories. This position will be filled either by a Senior, Lead, or Manager based upon the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, and skill level.
