Research Coordinator (Berardi, V)

Chapman University CareersIrvine, CA
Onsite

About The Position

Seeking a highly motivated post-baccalaureate Research Coordinator to join a federally funded clinical research project that seeks to improve children’s health by introducing Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology into cessation programs for parents that smoke in the home. This is a full-time, on-site position at Chapman University, funded through a 5-year NIH R37 MERIT Award. Because we work around participant availability, hours may shift day to day and may include evenings or weekends; flexibility is essential. This role is ideal for an individual planning to pursue graduate or professional school who wants hands-on experience coordinating a rigorous randomized controlled trial. The successful candidate will work directly with the PI and co-investigator team, receive structured mentorship, and build a record of experience directly relevant to graduate applications.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of past clinical assistance and/or administrative experience in related field or industry
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to research integrity.
  • Exceptional organizational skills are essential; the successful candidate will be able to manage multiple participants simultaneously, follow protocols precisely, and navigate competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining clear and consistent communication with the PI

Responsibilities

  • Conduct participant assessments (surveys, structured interviews) in accordance with study protocols
  • Manage participant flow from recruitment through study completion, including scheduling, tracking, and follow-up, and proactively communicate progress and obstacles to the PI
  • Support the IoT component of the intervention, including troubleshooting and participant-facing technical assistance
  • Assist with data entry, quality checks, and preparation of study materials
  • Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) communication and compliance
  • Participate in regular team meetings, including structured one-on-ones with the PI
  • Supervise independent study students
