The University of Washington Department of Bioethics and Humanities (B&H) has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator 3 to support a recently awarded NIH Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) four-year R01 focused on cloud-based data sharing and analysis platforms and their promise to ‘democratize’ the genomic data sciences. Reporting to Dr. Malia Fullerton, the Research Coordinator 3 is responsible for independently coordinating and providing overall administrative, logistical, and analytical support for the project. The grant comprises a data science aim assessing patterns of genomic data access and use in federal data repositories before and after the proliferation of cloud platforms and a qualitative aim focused on interviewing different classes of underrepresented genomic data scientists located throughout the United States. The grant will culminate in a national meeting of expert advisors, platform developers, and other interested parties to discuss findings and propose potential approaches to promote more inclusive and equitable cloud-based genomic data access and use. The position involves close collaboration with principal investigators, the interdisciplinary research team, external collaborators and advisers, and research participants. This role is designed for a professional research coordinator capable of applying established research methods and administrative procedures to projects of moderate complexity while contributing to ongoing improvements in research operations, data management, and study implementation. The position also offers mentored experience in qualitative research methods, including interviewing, qualitative data analysis, and dissemination activities. This position is hybrid preferred, but virtual with periodic travel will be considered.
