About The Position

In the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR), under the supervision of the Director, Research Compliance/Assurance & Programs, the Research Compliance & Programs Coordinator is responsible to provide support and assist in the coordination/implementation of policies, procedures, training and/or programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and institutional policies related to the conduct of research at Joslin Diabetes Center. The Coordinator will work with other teams in the OSR and Joslin, in addition to teams/departments at Beth Israel Lahey Health. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years administrative experience preferably working in research administration, compliance or programs
  • Familiarity with the academic and research environment/issues
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong problem solving skills
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and compliance support for research projects related to and in conjunction with, but not limited to: Animal research (USDA, PHS regulations) Research administration (Grants Policy Statements, Code of Federal Regulations, Sponsor specific regulations) Research security (Disclosure Requirements, Other Support, Covered Individuals NSPM-33, Chips and Science Acts, Information Sharing and Risk Assessment) Export controls (Dept of Commerce, Dept of State, ITAR, OFAC) Foreign influence (Malign Foreign Talent Program, Travel) Controlled substances (MA DPH, DEA) Visa/immigration for research scholars (USCIS, Presidential Proclamations) Artificial Intelligence for research purposes (NIH, DOD, NSF, Federal Orders)
  • Develops knowledge in research compliance to provide guidance and assistance to investigators and administrators.
  • Understands current events that influence research regulations and guidelines for compliance, keeping up-to-date on current on regulatory developments and industry standards that govern research.
  • May perform analysis and/or conduct reviews of databases related to the research to ensure compliance by the institution, faculty and/or research personnel as required.
  • Coordinates activities with other institutional and organizational departments at the direction of the Director, Research Compliance/Assurance & Programs and/or Executive Director for Research Administration.
