About The Position

The Research Associate will conduct research in the Huibregtse lab, focusing on the role of ISG15 in innate immune responses to viral and microbial pathogens using biochemical and cell-based approaches. This role involves collaborating with undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs. The position is expected to continue until July 5, 2027, and is located in Austin, TX.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant area of molecular biology or biochemistry.
  • Demonstrated experience as reflected in scientific publications.
  • Extensive experience with molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, quantitative biochemical assays, mass spectrometry, and analysis of protein structure and function.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and expertise in the fields of ubiquitin and/or ubiquitin-like proteins, virology, and immunology.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting laboratory research involving high-level experimental design and execution of experiments and their interpretation.
  • Presentation of results at weekly lab meetings and at public forums (e.g., departmental retreats and scientist conferences).
  • Participating in research planning sessions, supervising and training of graduate and undergraduate students.
