About The Position

The Research Associate will collaborate on ongoing research projects and have the ability to develop new projects. This role involves performing a variety of experiments using human cadaveric tissues, mammalian cell and tissue culture in vitro, electrophoresis of protein and nucleotide samples, microscopy and other methods of imaging, flow cytometry analysis and other immunological methods, and gene transfection using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Additionally, the position requires performing animal experiments, including perfusion on eyes ex vivo and in vivo, surgeries, and dissections of eyes of different species. The Research Associate will also perform statistical and other analyses on data, including RNAseq and Proteomics data. The role includes conceptualizing, designing, and conducting an independent research project under faculty supervision, ensuring study protocols are followed for compliance, and meeting regularly with supervising faculty to review study progress, timeline, and findings. The position also involves preparing briefings of results, working closely with supervising faculty during interpretation of study results, and assisting faculty in supervising students and technicians in the laboratory.

Requirements

  • Experience with human cadaveric tissues
  • Experience with mammalian cell and tissue culture in vitro
  • Experience with electrophoresis of protein and nucleotide samples
  • Experience with microscopy and other methods of imaging
  • Experience with flow cytometry analysis and other immunological methods
  • Experience with gene transfection using CRISPR/Cas9 technology
