We are seeking a Transformation Research Associate to join our Plant Transformation team in Johnston, IA. In this role, you will be at the forefront of genetic innovation, utilizing advanced cell biology, and digital tools to develop the next generation of seed products. You won't just follow protocols; you will help optimize them using data-driven insights to accelerate our R&D pipeline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or a related biological science.
  • 1–3 years of laboratory experience (academic or industry).
  • Proven experience in aseptic technique and plant tissue culture.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 and a high level of comfort learning new digital platforms (e.g., Power BI, Benchling, or proprietary Corteva LIMS).
  • Ability to interpret experimental data and troubleshoot technical deviations in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience with Agrobacterium-mediated transformation in monocot or dicot species.
  • Experience operating automated laboratory equipment or robotics.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute high-throughput plant transformation protocols across key crops (Corn, Soy, etc.) with a focus on precision and reproducibility.
  • Perform complex cell biology tasks, including explant preparation (immature embryos and leaf tissues) for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, callus induction, and plant regeneration.
  • Utilize LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and digital tracking tools to document plant development and optimize tissue culture success rates.
  • Actively participate in process optimization initiatives, identifying opportunities to automate workflows and improve laboratory efficiency.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to biosafety regulations, greenhouse protocols, and Corteva’s Product Stewardship standards to maintain our "License to Operate."
  • Work cross-functionally with Molecular Biology, Greenhouse, and Data Science teams to ensure the seamless delivery of research materials.
