About The Position

The Oregon National Primate Center (ONPRC) is seeking a flow cytometry technician for the Viral Immunology Core (VIC). The VIC is equipped with advanced flow cytometry instruments including BD FACS Symphonies, a Cytek Northern Lights, and a BD Fusion cell sorter. This role involves operating and maintaining these instruments, assisting users with troubleshooting, and ensuring data quality.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience.
• Must be comfortable using computers (Mac, PC).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of flow cytometry
• Experience in a biohazard laboratory
• Past laboratory experience
• Experience with designing flow cytometry antibody panels

Responsibilities

• Participate in a small team that operates the VIC’s flow cytometers.
• Assist users with troubleshooting flow cytometry equipment.
• Perform general maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and simple repairs of the cytometers (QA).
• Ensure quality control (QC) of data before and during data acquisition.
• Work with users to create flow cytometry panels for their individualized research needs.
• Perform routine maintenance of cytometers and calibration (compensation matrix, CS&T).
• Coordinate repairs of the flow cytometers, either internally or with the manufacturer.
• Manage reagent ordering and billing.
• Run samples for users on the flow cytometers.
• Other duties as assigned.
