About The Position

The individual will set up a vacuum system so that well-controlled partial vapor pressures of various adsorbates can be delivered to porous adsorbates and delivered in-situ to a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system. Adsorbates of interests will be functionalized by self-assembled monolayer coating. NMR experiments will be conducted in-situ to determine isotherms and molecular dynamics information. These experiments should lead to manuscripts for publications in scientific journals.

Requirements

  • Experience with vacuum systems.
  • Experience with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of adsorbate chemistry and functionalization.
  • Ability to conduct in-situ experiments.
  • Skills in data analysis for isotherms and molecular dynamics.
  • Strong scientific writing skills for publications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up a vacuum system for controlled partial vapor pressures of adsorbates.
  • Deliver adsorbates to porous adsorbates and in-situ to an NMR system.
  • Functionalize adsorbates using self-assembled monolayer coating.
  • Conduct in-situ NMR experiments to determine isotherms and molecular dynamics information.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals based on experimental results.
